Original Document Release.
IMPORTANT : Firmware Version 4.0.585 for the NC375i, NC375T, NC522m, and NC522SFP, Firmware Version 4.9.81 for the NC523SFP, and Firmware Version 4.8.22 for the CN1000Q network adapters are required to prevent the loss and recovery of Ethernet connectivity, or adapter unresponsiveness requiring a reboot to recover, from occurring. HP recommends performing these upgrades at the customer's earliest possible convenience. Neglecting to perform the recommended action and not performing the recommended resolution could result in the potential for subsequent errors to occur.
The HP network adapters listed in the Scope section (below) may encounter either of the following:
  • The adapter may temporarily lose Ethernet connectivity, and then automatically recover.
OR
  • The adapter may stop responding, requiring a server reboot to recover the operation of the adapter.
Note: There is a low probability of this occurring when operating under a normal network workload.

SCOPE

Any of the following HP network adapters that are running the firmware versions listed below:
Note: Servers shipped after April 1, 2012 (serial number xxx214xxxx or later) are NOT susceptible to this issue (excluding the ProLiant DL980 G7).
Note: ProLiant DL980 G7 servers with SPI Board Version B01 (or later) and EDC Version G-5210 (or later) are NOT susceptible to this issue. The labels with the SPI Board and EDC version are located on the bottom of the SPI Board, near the PCI Edge Connector.
IMPORTANT: The firmware components as linked below should be run as they contain additional stability enhancements over the versions contained in HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2012.06.0. Even if firmware version 4.0.585 was installed by the SPP, this component should be run to install these critical stability enhancements.

This has been corrected in the following network adapter firmware upgrades, which can be located for download using the following navigation:
